The Commissioner has launched the Safer in Sussex Community Fund which provides financial support to local projects that tackle crime and improve community safety. Fran Hibbard shares her application success…..
‘In the summer of 2014 I came across a notification that the Police Safer in Sussex Community Foundation was inviting applications. Using the skills Gemma Kingsman my Funding Mentor had taught me and the bank of stock phrases that we had created for just such an occasion I was able to put the application together in an evening. We were delighted to receive £4,982 for our project that supports young people at risk of engaging in antisocial behavior. I felt very spoilt when I attended the lovely celebration lunch held for of 60 community projects and received our cheque. As a point of interest there were 90 applicants and I believe that our success was due to all the preparation work Gemma had done with us.’
